Ha Ha! Love your reaction Hannah!

A stunning opener to the series in my view. I found all that Man-Snogging curiously sexy too!

I recorded it, so here are a few screen-caps for all you JB Fans:

I'll probably do a few more and hope to record more episodes, so I've made a new bucket for the Torchwood Screencaps:

As a long time fan of both JB and James Marsters that episode was like a dream come true :D

JB and I have something in common now - we've both been kissed by James

P.S. Thanks for the screencaps Kazzer (especially the snog)!

Sometimes I hate being a Leftpondia. Torchwood just started on the BBC America channel but since I don’t have a TV in my room, I don’t watch! Ha ha ha! Seriously, I spend more time online anyhow.

Marieke is trying to steer me into the right direction since this looks like a good sci-fi show I’d enjoy next to Heroes. But you’ll need to give me a “crash course” on DW and Torchwood. I know there’s a few episodes to start watching with “Empty Child” (thanks to youtube patrons) but if anyone has season one episodes to Torchwood, I’m interested in looking into this. Or an easy recap because it looks a little confusing to an outsider.

And wha—wa-wa-hot!! Mr. Barrowman is certainly easy on the eyes. Good at TV drama and musical theatre, what a talented guy! Hannah, do you have a review of the panto anywhere here? I saw the pics online and he looks great in his swanky glittering costume. I now officially add Connie Fisher to the list of Luckiest Women in the World for getting double whammy kisses from John Barrowman and Lee Mead.

Somebody please tell me to get back to work?!

I can give you a short recap of the beginning of the new series, and maybe someone can add from there? I can give you recaps of all the eps too, but I wouldn't want to spoiler anything.
But reading back my pm it must've been a bit confusing for an outsider! Sorry for that! :)

The easy definition ( wikipedia  ) is this:
Quote:
Doctor Who is a long-running, award-winning British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious time-traveller known as "the Doctor" who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police phone box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems and righting wrongs.

Although Series 4, starting this spring, is actually series 30, it easier just to start with the New Who (the restarted series, in 2005), cause the production team chose to restart the series numbering from scratch. There are continuities, but when you're a non Whovian, that really isn't important.
I haven't watched the old series either. :)

The series starts with Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth (regeneration of the) Doctor. The first ep is mostly about Rose, who meets the Doctor in the basement of the warehouse where she's working. "She's attackted by murderous mannequins and saved by a mysterious stranger calling himself the Doctor." (Wiki again) Rose becomes the companion of the Doctor (The Doctor never travels alone). To fit Empty Child in, in the 9th ep of the first series, which is Empty Child, they meet a con man who calls himself Captain Jack Harkness. From there starts Jacks storyline. Of course this is higly summarized, and I've left out nearly everything, but to give you an idea.

By the way, you can find recaps on wiki too (for a list with eps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_serials#Ninth_Doctor and further)

Hope it isn't still too confusing!! :?

For some annoying reason, the youtube patrons only upload half of their episodes! Grrrr....but I found out the ending.
Holy sh!t!! Those gas mask zombies are scary. Do NOT watch this show after dark, ladies and gentlemen. It's too scary.

Btw, does he ever find out what happened those two years of lost memories?

I know, it's really creepy! My sisters have watched it too, and they like walking around the house (at night) repeating: "Where's my mummy? Are you my mummy?" Nice, isn't it?

I hope he does! But as far as I know, he doesn't know as yet and neither do we!

I know! I hate it when my cousins go around the house saying, "My precioussssssss...." like Gollum from LOTR. It scares me! But a good episode. I like mixing historical fiction (my fav genre) with sci-fi, as long as it's got a strong story. Maybe you can answer my next question since you know so much, Marieke. When does Jack go from con man to hero? What's his motivation to change?

Did you say you have avi of episodes? Can you put them onto megaupload? *Gets Bambi eyes*

Meeting the Doctor and travelling with the Doctor (and Rose too) changes him. They are an example for him and it makes him realize he can do something good. It's apparent in the three other eps of the first series, but most of all in "The parting of ways". Do you want an exact quote?

I have the avis of seasons 2 and 3 and Torchwood season 1. (And if you want I might be able to get the last eps of Dr Who season 1 too, but no guarantees :) ) I wouldn't mind uploading at all! Can't say no to bambi eyes! :D It'll take me some time though! They're about 350 mb per ep!
But I wouldn't mind sending you the eps on dvd (as avi's) too. It's only about 4 dvd's in total and that way you'll have all of them in about a week :)

Hey Snoo,

I am a long time admirer of JM and have met him a few times (always a pleasure  ). The best time, however, was at the Cavern in Liverpool. James and his then band 'Ghost of the Robot' were playing and I got talking to him after. We kind of got on like a house on fire and at the end I looked up to realise a friend of mine was taking photos of us. When I asked him if he minded, we posed for the camera and just as the photo was taken he kissed me - but only on the cheek, not a full on snog like JB got, I'm afraid!

Anyway here are a couple of the pics:

Image

I like this one as it looks like we are having a snog but he is just talking in my ear as it was rather loud in there.

Image

But I'm not going to post the one of the kiss, sorry, because I hate pics of me (the ones above are OK cos you can't see my face)!!!

I'm in a dilemma now as JM has just announced a couple of gigs in London in April but if I go see James it means one less trip to the Adelphi. *sigh* What is a girl to do?

Deb x
P.S. Thanks for asking about the kiss - I love telling my Cavern story

I am a lucky girl. That has to have been one of the best nights of my life!

For gig info go to James' site

http://www.jamesmarsterslive.com/home.shtml

He plays solo now, just him and a guitar. His voice is nowhere in the same league as Lee's but he has a certain something about him

Thanks babe! I'll check it out. I didn't know he'd gone solo now.
