I didn't follow the show from the beginning, but have caught up on most of it via our old pal YouTube. Just watched the clips of the final and feel a bit discombobulated. It's so emotional, but also a bit worrying!
Jess & Rachey, would love to hear your reports from the front lines!
Did the girls join Jodie on stage after the show? Felt a bit anticlimatic that we didn't see that (as we did for the Joes and Marias). Even though it was a competition, seeing the Joes lift up Lee at the end of ADWD and cheer his win was a great way to close the show on a celebratory note.

Actually Connie was not a pro -- she'd graduated from drama school (Mountview I think), was auditioning and sometimes getting to the final 3 or 4, but that was it. She wasn't anywhere near as experienced as Lee or Daniel. I think this business about finding raw talent is mostly a PR gimmick. It just seems so impractical to me! Even with 6 months to rehearse, train, and prepare, that's not a lot of time for an inexperienced performer. I wonder if the whole process would be too much for any of those final 3 girls, esp. when you factor in the media attention (and PR duties).

Jodie is more polished, mature, and experienced than Sam or Jessie, and I think that will help her in the long run. Also since Nancy isn't the lead role, she doesn't have to carry the show the way Connie and Lee were expected to.

-CM has made comments about her a robust and curvy Nancy. Dicken's readers insist she'd fit into the role just fine.
-She's lost 11 stone (am I accurate?) and knows the role requires fitness
Anyone wonder if Cam Mac is going to put her on a strict diet/workout regimen to slim down? Of course that plays into the fitness aspect, since she'll need to be ready to do 4-8 shows a week. That disclaimer about doing only 4 shows a week is interesting -- I suspect they would have put that in place if ANY of the final 3 girls had won.

-No matter what the judges think, the public have fallen in love with her
I'm fascinated by how the judging panel were so divided -- John & Denise for Jodie, ALW/Cam Mac/BH for Jessie. And Lee for Jodie as well. Isn't it interesting that the performers (excepting BH and I'm tempted to discount him entirely LOL) went for Jodie? Personally, I found Jodie to be much more credible acting the songs. Jessie has something, but I find that uncontrolled raw quality to be scary rather than exciting. I'd worry that she would crack under pressure.
I think what made ADWD so much more fun and addictive is that it became about more than casting a role. With Lee, it became about discovering a Leading Man and a Star, because we all fell in love with him and his talent. Everytime he performed an MT song, I kept seeing him as other leading roles -- Luck Be A Lady Tonight (he was my Sky Masterson), Do You Love Me (he could be Johnny), Maria (he was my Tony), Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas!), Oh What a Circus (Che!). Even with the pop songs, he brought you so completely into his story and made you want to know more. Hell, even when the other Joes sang MT songs, I couldn't help but think that Lee would've done it so much better and wanted to hear him sing it (Being Alive, The Lady is a Tramp, This is the Moment, Tell Me It's Not True, I Dreamed a Dream).
Frankly, I'm not sure any of the Marias, other Joes, or Nancys have that kind of versatility, acting ability, and star power.
I do think Jodie is capable of playing more than Nancy, but not in leading roles. She might have an easier time of it than Connie since she won't be expected to be a leading lady.
