I saw it in July the stage show is unbelievable.I was a bit bored but only because it was a toss up between Joseph or LOTR and LOTR won.It was stunning. Some of the effects will blow you away.I went with my son who sat with his mouth open the whole time.I made him run round to the Adelphi after it finished so we were both happy!

A friend of mine - who is a producer and not easy to impress as he's seen sooo many shows - went to see it and he says it's AWESOME. He urged me to go see it, so I will, next time I'm in London :)
Saw some video clips and the sets look amazing, revolving stages at different levels, very impressive.
Have fun and let us know how it was!

I had seen the films ( joy of living with OH and 2 sons) but you would still understand it if you hadn't.

Thanks for that, I wasn't that keen on seeing it after some poor reviews but I saw them perform a couple of the songs at Kidsweek and it's really tempted me to go and see it.

The gold lady! used to be Mary poppins I thought she was the best in LOTR.
The orcs run around the audience during parts of the show, so do the hobbits.

The bad reviews were mostly for the Toronto production. Lots have been changed for the London show.

Some youtube videos

Trailer

Frodo & Sam

Lothlorien AMAZING!!

The Star of Eärendil Goosebumps

I have to admit, I fell asleep while watching the first movie, LOTR doesn't interest me at all, BUT... I HAVE to see this musical!

I'm very intrigued by this....
I mean, the books were hard enough to condense into a 12 hour film. (I'm thinking extended editions...)

So how on earth does it work when condensed into a 2 hour musical?? I'm very intrigued and would like to see it.

Awww Hannah you aren't sad at all, I would do exactly the same!
The books or films didn't interest me but my brother says I have to watch them before we go because he doesn't want me asking questions through it lol.

Hiya Robyn, I've just got back from London with my husband and two sons after an overnight stop there, and a visit to see Lord of the Rings. I have to say, I found it absolutely spectacular. Having spent a fortune on tickets I did wonder what my teenage sons would think after having read a review by one chap saying his 15 year old son was bored. I needn't have worried. As soon as the lights went back on at the interval one of mine immediately said "This is AWESOME" and the other agreed. Knowing the story does help, but really isn't necessary. We found the lighting and special effects, the singing and acrobatics fantastic. For me, it was by far and away the best thing I have ever seen at the theatre. The story may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the effects are magical. As you can see, I'm still raving about it, so I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did.

It's been great reading this thread. Me & hubby are seeing LOTR on Sat 24th May (seeing Lee again on the Friday  ). I've read the books (hard going :? ) & seen all 3 films (fabulous but glad I read books for gist of story :? ). Haven't watched any clips of the show yet so am really looking forward to it. Plus, I'm hoping it will lift me from the post Joseph Lee Low   I got after last watching the show.

Aww glad you had a good time ChrisB. Thanks for the little review! I'm soooo excited and cannot wait, especially as I really like the person who plays Legolas on the stage.

Angel - I hope you have a great time!
