I read a newspaper article about "Zorro", gooogled it and found that it is on tour. I was interested because the article was mainly about Adam Cooper, who played Sky Masterson when I saw Patrick Swayze in "Guys and Dolls".

Anyway, I have just returned from seeing the matinee in Southampton. It is potentially a fabulous show, but it needs tightening up as it is nearly 3 hours long. The music is by The Gypsy Kings - Spanish and flamenco. I would really like to hear it all again before I comment. Unfortunately, there is no recording yet, but all the numbers are on The Gypsy Kings album apparently. There is a lot of action, some spirited dancing and a couple of love songs.

As well as Adam Cooper, there is Aimie Atkinson, Lesli Margherita and a quite cute Matt Rawle as Zorro. Oh yes, and Earl Carpenter has a small part. I talked to a few of the cast afterwards and they are hopeful that they will move to the West End. I really hope they do. They deserve good audiences. Only half the theatre was filled this afternoon.

I'll be interested to hear if anyone has seen, or is going to see, the show. I certainly recommend it.

Jessie, he was really lovely at the stage door. There was a group of about 8 Japanese women. He signed for all of them, had photos taken with each of them and chatted while they checked their photos in case they needed re-taking.

That's really nice, I saw him in Singing in the Rain at Sadler's Wells and he did a Q & A (along with Ronnie Ancona), he was sweet!
I saw him in My One and Only when I was about 8!! I love him!
Thanks, sorry that was so babbly :D

If I hadn't felt unwell, I think I would have driven the 50 miles each way to see it again today. It really is worth seeing.

I'm thinking about going ot see the show in London in July!

Was just listening to some of the music, sounds good! :D Especially One Day is good! Reminds me of Schönberg/Boublil though, but for me that's a good thing

I'm not sure that I will be going to see the West End production. Ramon's part has been drastically reduced and Adam Cooper will not be in the show. There defrinitely needed to be cuts, but cutting out his 2 songs seems to be in the wrong area.

Zorro is really great.
Got a free ticket to it as my friend works at the front of house but I was really blown away. The story is great and the singing is even better. The sword fights were unbelivable and it was just a really great night out!
The music is probably the best thing about the show.
I'd recommend it to anyone.

So glad you enjoyed it Robyn. I'm planning to get a ticket when I'm in London on Sat. I was hoping someone would report on it first. Thanks.

Oh. My. It was absolutely amazing!! I loved it! Paul was great, and Matt Rawle was just :thud: *fwibble* *meep*

But let's start from the beginning:
The show was great. I absolutely loved the dancing and the swordfighting and storywise I thought most of it was just very well and very cleverly done. Everybody's familiar with the story of Zorro anyway, and it just told all the necessary parts without it being too long. The show was 2 hrs and 20 minutes and as far as I was concerned it could've lasted a bit longer.
The cast was absolutely amazing. Especially Matt, who was an excellent Zorro and a hilarious Diego. And sometimes a combination of both, especially when it came to red coats and earrings. And his singing... Just brilliant. Some of the songs were sooo beautiful. I do hope there'll be a recording. Still love 'One day' and 'Man behind the Mask', both sang by Louisa (who was played by Emma, and she had the most amazing voice) but I really want to listen to 'Hope' again.

Adam Levy portrayed Ramon and he was great. He was mad, so completely insane. And especially the scene with Inez (Lesli Margherita) is terrifying and brilliant.

Paul was brilliant as well. He was the reason I eventually booked the ticket, I was doubting whether I wanted to see it or not, and he was just fab. He played both one of the gypsies and private Sanchez. Great parts, with a lot of dancing and swordfighting.

And all in all it's just a show with a lot of dancing and swordfighting, a lot of humour, tragedy and great songs. Matt and Emma were amazing.

And as extra plus: it has a megamixy thing!!

After the show I stood outside the stage door (I was proper nervous too!) for a while, on the very random (or maybe not so) mission to get Paul to sign my programme. Matt came out first though and I really (and I mean really) liked him on stage, but so close he was even more :thud: Think the fact that he came out on his motor looking very thudsome might have had something to do with it too.
He asked about my arm and was just very nice

After that Paul came out. He recognized me immediately (not too hard I guess, I'm glad he didn't call me Sling girl tho! ) and signed my programme and we chatted for a while. I told him how absolutely brilliant the show was and he really liked it too, especially the swordfighting and stuff. Told him I was jealous about that  (I was! Am!) He did have to catch his train shortly after that, but it was great to see him!

And now I just want to see the show again! *bounces*

(Oh, and do we have a Matt Rawle thread? Can we have one? )

I went to see thia a while back when it was in my local place before it went on to west end......It was good but a good 20 mins to long in the middle. I spoke to paul about it when he was still in Joesph. Apparently they have taken a small amount out of the middle which I will bet makes to show more compact and enjoyable.

It was a great show with great music hope everyone who goes to see it has a great time :teddyheart:

I saw it today, it is so amazing!! It's absolutely hilarious and very camp!
Paul was great and we got a big grin and a "Oh! Hello!!" and a long chat and the stage door afterwards, he was so lovely :D
We managed to get centre on row C stalls for £25 so it was even more enjoyable   especially with the cast laughing at our cheers (and dancing  ) at the end!
Definitely go see it, a few pics to come!

I told you all that it was good, when I saw the touring (and rather long) version.

Marieke, Matt is quite ???? but no where near Lee in PHWAORNESS.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rather gorgeous Paul.
